I feel like it's sort of a midcentury style name. Like
Dave,
Dale,
Dennis,
Darrell,
Wayne, and
Duane.
It's slightly associated with 70s rock'n'roll to me but I am not sure why. Unless it's because of the softspoken
Wade who had the locker next to mine in high school, who was a metal fan? Maybe that is all it is.
Anyway yeah. Kinda dated and dorky, and I don't like the sound of WAY- in names personally, but I can see its appeal.
It doesn't walk on water, but I can see why it's still in the mainstream. (I could not resist)
The sound of it seems like it should be fashionable now, plus the word-like quality, and well-known surname.
I watch for it to start appearing on girls, maybe.
