The youngest Kevin I can think of is probably 20 or so now, so this is name that definitely ties to a specific time period to my mind. That said, I think it's still reasonably popular and wouldn't associate it with the word "ancient."
"Ancient" also feels inappropriate for Chris. Several Chris-adjacent names are still reasonably popular - Christopher is still a top 100 name. As a given name, Chris isn't great.
I think both names are fine.
