ETA Sorry - should have been a reply to the OP! My bad.Pansy used to be and perhaps still is used as a disparaging term for a male homosexual, in British English anyway, which makes it impossible for me to take it seriously at all. There was a character in a British children's comic called Pansy Potter; her father was the strong man in a circus, and she had inherited his amazing strength and used to to get into and out of trouble. I've never seen it IRL but references to it do crop up. Another reason to avoid the name? But, yes, the flowers are lovely.
