From your list I like Hugh Daniel (although Daniel is one of my step-brothers' names) and Hugh Elliott best.
Thanks for the thoughts on the name. At first I couldn't get past Hugh Grant. Then I read a book with a really wonderful character named Hugh, and I've been thinking about it ever since :o)
