Location: Chapel Hill, North Carolina
Year 1: Luke and Sophie get a small cat. This is a tabby cat named Jeannie.
Year 2: Sophie begins going to school for nursing.
Year 3: Sophie becomes pregnant and gives birth to a little girl named Parker Penelope Jane Taven.
Year 4: The family adds a pet horse to their family. The horse's name is Ina.
Year 5: Something good happens! Surprise pregnancy. A baby boy named Reeve Elliott Cain Taven.
Year 6: At the end of the year, Sophie's mother, Becky passes away after a three-year battle with cancer.
Year 7: The family's grieving process is slow and long, but like a ray of sun in the worst storm, Sophie gives birth to a baby named Wilder Maverick Joel.
Year 8: Becky's passing did no good to her husband, Jimmy. Jimmy has aged even faster since Becky's passing and he moves in with the Tavens.
Year 9: The family adopts a small salamander, similar to the one Jimmy had when he was young. He names it Jaguar, like his salamander. This salamander brings back so many memories from his childhood.
Year 10: The Tavens adopt a daughter, age 7, from Kenya. Her birth name was Akinyi, but the Tavens let her pick a new name. She chooses Ava Grace.
Year 11: Something good happens! Jimmy, now recovering from his depression, wins a large sum of money from a creative writing contest.
Year 12: The family gets a bird, per the demand of Parker and Ava. The girls name the budgie Oreo.
Year 13: 8-year-old Reeve falls while climbing a tree. He breaks his left leg in three different places and is put in a boot. His leg doesn't heal right and develops an infection. He is hospitalized. Within two weeks, though, the leg is healing after the infection.
Year 14: While waiting for his leg to heal, Reeve takes up painting and is astounding! He is so bored lying in the hospital, so a nurse gifts him paints and canvases. His Bob Ross style paintings win awards.
Year 15: The Tavens adopt Ava's younger sister, 17 months, from Kenya. Her name is Faith Mya.
