I really like it. It makes me think of
Job's daughter in the Bible but also sounds like someone living during the 1800s. There is an oldfashioned charm about it that is similar to
Matilda,
Winifred, or
Josephine.
A couple of other people have mentioned the pancake/ syrup brand, but I don't think it is as popular as it used to be in the US. Either that or it is more regional. I wouldn't automatically think of the brand if I met a baby or little girl named
Jemima. If I met an older middle aged, matronly African American woman named
Jemima who resembled the Aunt
Jemima charcter, then I would think of the pancakes. Otherwise,
Jemima Puddleduck is more likely to be an issue.
