[Opinions] Re: Miranda

It must be regional. I wouldn't have even thought of it as possible until seeing this thread. I guess I could see a tomboy Miranda looking for a better nickname and going by Randy, but not Randi, and I wouldn't expect random people to call a Miranda Randi the way they'd automatically call a Christopher Chris. (although randy means horny so it doesn't seem like a nickname someone would use on purpose)

Are you British? In the US, I would venture to say that most people are aware of the word "randy" and what it means, but it's not that commonly used. It's mostly thought of as a British usage.
Randy was in the top one hundred for males in the US from 1948 through 1983. Randall was in the top one hundred from 1949 through 1969, and some of those men named Randall undoubtedly went by Randy, and the statistics for Randy don't even count them. Randi for girls was in the top thousand in the US from 1946 through 2001, although it never rose higher than #235. Nobody in the US bats an eye at Randy or Randi.
