Yeah, care-oh-LEE-nah is the only way I'd say it. (I'd doubt many people would even pronounce it like the states though but when it is, I agree how weird it would be) It doesn't work how Georgia or Virginia does.
I have a brother who moved down to SC many years ago, from NY. Claims it was one of the best decisions he'd ever made. (:
