I don't think that the "lice" is a problem, since it's not pronounced a-LICE.
I've never been very fond of
Alice, but recently I read
Georgia Byng's
The girl with no nose in which the protagonist is called
Alice and since she was such a lovely person, I thought that maybe
Alice isn't that bad after all. But I prefer it pronounced in French, a-LISS.
Alice is very popular in Sweden for the moment, every other girl is named
Alice. Or
Elsa.
