No, I don't think it's fillerish, at least not with most first names. Because it doesn't flow like Jane or Grace with most names. And the initial reads more awkwardly too (Susannah E. Smith vs Susannah J. Smith). So I think you have to want Eve in particular, to use it as a middle name.
