Location: Brooklyn, New York, USA
James and Natasha brought Zhenya home with as few expectations as possible. They didn't want to hold to anything unrealistic or pressure him into anything he was uncomfortable with so they began a kind of experiment. They began to take him to various places- sports park, movies, aquarium, ethnic restaurants, children's museums- anywhere they could to allow Zhenya to figure out what he liked and disliked and give him time to bond with his new parents. It took a bit, but he got along with them both and they worked at it until they were all comfortable and happy together. Despite him speaking English fluently now, they enrolled him in a private school that offers Russian so that if need be, there would be someone there to speak with him in either language. So far, he seems to be adapting to the new school fairly easily.
