Well, first of all, I've looked around the internet a little more for the origin and meaning of Okyere. What I've failed to realise is that it's a surname, not a name (how could I be so stupid? lol).
I was trying to find out the meaning of Okyere and I found a dictionary from the 1900s (which you can see from a PDF: https://ia801406.us.archive.org/30/items/englishtshiasant00evaniala/englishtshiasant00evaniala.pdf). There, I found 'okyere' (as in the word) and it has several meanings:1. "doctrine" -> from the same Latin root that results in the word "doctor" (okyerefo panyin)
2. "hygiene"
3. "infallibility" -> (from Wiktionary) the property of being infallible (without fault or weakness)
4. "instruction"
5. "lecture"
6. "tuition" -> from the same Latin root that results in the word "tutor" (okyerekyerefo)
7. "introduction"
8. "precept"These meanings come from the word, not the surname. Therefore, I don't know if those meanings would be the same for the surname (maybe none of these meanings fit for a surname). I might not even know the true meaning of Okyere as a surname until I get information from an Ashanti person (which might not happen anytime soon).
If you are planning to put up an entry about Okyere (surname), I'd recommend not doing it until you get more info from someone who is part of the Ashanti ethnic group.
