It's ee-VON to me, or maybe ih-VON but definitely not yih-VON. Yih-VON sounds as tackily incorrect to me as calling an
Yves "YIVZ," or a
Renee "Reh-NEE," or
Antoine "An-TOYN." I would just say ih-VON if someone introduced herself to me as yih-VON, and see if I got corrected again, or if I could get away with it.
I like
Gwen, and I think it's alright as a full name by itself. I like
Gwendolen enough to use that as a full name though. I like
Gwyneth more than
Gwenith, but I think
Gwen can be short for
Gwyneth too.
