I pro. caramel w/3 syl. and carmel w/2 syl. as well. I just thought caramel might be more familiar than carmel.
There is a famous candy in the US called Carmellos (made by Cadbury) which are quite delicious... I think of those whenever I hear "
Carmel" or "
Carmella" (also, for some strange reason - maybe it's the Halloween caramel apple connection - but
Carmella makes me think of vampires too lol).
