Even though it was popular beyond belief at one time, it isn't now. I'm not sure popularity should be a concern in naming anyway. If you love a name, go for it.
My stepdaughter is Jennifer. My brother's wife's sister had a Jennifer. In addition, Jennifer (or Jenifer in some cases) is the name many of my friends chose for their daughters. (My children were born in the late '70s/early '80s.)
