I've never had this experience - don't have any kids and I'm fine with my cat's name. I find this concept really interesting though. I have noticed that people sometimes pronounce names slightly differently than other people and even though you can barely tell, I'm sure that you'd notice if your spouse were pronouncing your child's name differently than you. An example of this that comes to mind is Benjamin pronounced BEN-ja-min or BEN-jer-min. Or Louise, pronounced loo-EEZ or loo-WEEZ.
Then of course you're running into even more problems if you and your spouse have different accents. It's definitely something to take into consideration when coming up with a name.
