I don't see it working in the US, because it doesn't look anything like how it is supposed to be pronounced.

Really? In comparison to some of the other Irish names I've come across, this one comes off as one of the more usable ones (yes, I'm looking at you Eoghan, Siobhan, Niamh and Saoirse!)

yes...In the US, these names are not used much at all. Siobhan, spelled Shavonne or similarly, has been used occasionally. Ciara has also been used but has typically been pronounced like Sierra.
