I know a woman called Ellen who called her daughter Ellie. I don't know if it was honouring herself (which is a bit selfish anyway!) or if they just liked the name. Either way it just causes a lot of confusion!

At least Katie is different enough from Catherine, especially if the Mum goes by Catherine or Cath or something else.
