Eduardo is a male model;
Martha is in the police academy. They meet at a bar in
Philadelphia, where
Martha lives and
Eduardo grew up. They have a long-distance relationship for three years, while
Eduardo travels the world modeling and
Martha becomes a cop. He proposes on a trip to
Paris for fashion week, and they marry in a small ceremony at a church in
Martha's hometown in Minnesota.
Year One:
Job Transfer
Eduardo is such a successful male model, he is able to settle in
Philadelphia and commute to New
York or
Europe for work a few days a month. They buy a small house on the outskirts of
Philadelphia.
Year Two: Random : Second
JobEduardo decides to pursue his long-time dream of opening his own photography studio in
Philadelphia. He cuts back on modeling and begins building a studio portrait business, catering to young, hip couples and parents in the city.
Year Three: Pet - Cat
For their third anniversary,
Eduardo and
Martha buy a Maine Coon cat. They name him
Freddie Mercury.
Year Four: Family Affair
Martha suffers an unplanned ectopic pregnancy and is hospitalized. She and
Eduardo are devastated, but it makes them realize that they do want children, and they begin trying in earnest.
Year Five: Birth
Martha and
Eduardo are utterly thrilled when she gives birth to a healthy baby girl via c-Section. They name her
Cecile Estela Kravitz. She has curly dark hair like her father and hazel eyes like her mom.
Year Six: Birth
Just eleven months after
Cecile's birth,
Martha and
Eduardo welcome a baby boy:
Ajit Ravi Kravitz (via C-section). He is the spitting image of his mother, and his parents are thrilled.
Year Seven: Travel
Martha takes three days vacation time from her job on the force. The family spends a weekend in New
York, visiting Central Park and museums.
Year Eight: Birth
Exactly nine months after their weekend in New
York,
Martha and
Eduardo have a second daughter,
Zipporah Mary Kravitz. She has her father's features (and height!) but her mother's coloring.
Year
Nine: Travel
Eduardo is going back to
Paris for Fashion Week, and he brings
Cecile (age four) and
Ajit (age three) along to give
Martha some one-on-one time with
Zipporah. The children have a wonderful time-- spitting off the statue of liberty and chasing each other around the statues outside the Louvre.
Year Ten: Birth
Well, nine months after
Eduardo and the kids come home from
Paris,
Martha's welcome home present comes home to roost. It's a second son,
Declan Kevin Kravitz. He looks more like his father than any of the other kids.
Year Eleven:
JobMartha has been working as a community outreach officer, and she is promoted to the director of the Student Anti-Drug/Anti-Crime Program. The position requires her to supervise police officers working in area schools around the city. It's more time-consuming, so
Eduardo cuts back on his portrait business to spend more time at home.
Year Twelve: Family Affair
Martha and
Eduardo decide the big kids are finally old enough to care for a dog.
Cecile (age seven),
Ajit (age six), and
Zipporah (age four) pick out a terrier mix from a local shelter. They name him
David Bowie.
Freddie Mercury (the cat) is still adjusting.
Year Thirteen: Pet
Eduardo does a shoot for Italian Vogue on a farm.
Declan, who is almost three, spends the day playing with a pet goat.
Martha is less than thrilled when
Eduardo and
Declan bring the goat home. They name him
George Harrison and build him a pen in their backyard.
Year Fourteen:
JobThe city is undergoing budget problems, and
Martha's hours are cut at work. She and
Eduardo have been diligently saving for years, so they are not overly worried, and
Martha enjoys the break.
Year Fifteen: Travel
Eduardo starts doing commercials in Japan. He brings the four kids and
Martha along for a week, and they travel down to
China and Vietnam to see the sights.
