Are you pronouncing it as THEE-ah (soft 'th')? I think it's quite pretty, I prefer it as a nn for
Theodora, though. But I think it can definitely stand on its own. There is, however, a Canadian actress named
Thea Gill who pronounces her fn as TAY-ah. It's pretty, but it would constantly get mispronounced imo.
