[Games] The Saise-Pascoe Family
in reply to a message by elysa
UN: Siân
Country: Wales (which I know nothing about, but I like the names.)
LN: Saise-Pascoe
DH: Llywelyn Meredith Wynn (25)
DH: Siôr Enfys (26)
AS: Emrys Roan (5)
AS: Eifion Jac (1)Disclaimer: I don’t know the popularity of names strictly in Wales. It only seen popularity lists combine Wales with England. So I went back though the Welsh birth announcements that Pie posts on the Opinion Boards every so often and have a list of them to use for the game. The names will mostly come from those.“I can’t believe we did that,” Siôr breathes as he lies in bed staring at the ceiling. It’s too dark for him to see it.“Having second thoughts?” Llywelyn asked. Siôr shook his head as if Llywelyn could see it. (He heard it more than anything.)“No, just shocked that we went through with it.” Siôr replied. “Parenthood seems to foreign. And it‘s scary to think that they‘ll be watching us and checking our backgrounds and everything. I mean, shouldn‘t they do that with biological children too? See if the parents are fit to be parents. I think it would be good.”Llywelyn laughed lightly. “It would be. I know some people who deserved better homes growing up.”“Exactly.” Siôr nodded. He curled on his side and faced Llywelyn in the darkness. It was becoming easier to see now. He just watched Llywelyn for a moment in the darkness. “What if the agency doesn’t find us fit for it? What if it‘s too odd of a situation we‘re already in?”Llywelyn reached and took Siôr’s hand. “Placing anybody in a situation and expecting them to immediately belong is crazy, but you have to give everyone a chance. I‘m sure the agency knows that.”Siôr gets the feeling they’re talking about more than adoption now, but doesn‘t say anything.***When they were first invited in to meet Emrys, he was playing alone on a carpet in the corner. Plenty of other children were off meeting prospective parents, but little Emrys sat with his back to the wall and a book in his lap. Siôr almost missed him. “What are you reading?” he asked as the couple approached and knelt down next to him.“This,” Emrys held up the book and Siôr recognized it as one of the harder Dr. Suess books.“Oh, wow. That one has a lot of words,” Llywelyn commented and Emrys nodded. He pointed to a word at the top of the page and asked, “What‘s that word say?”Siôr cocked his head to the side, “Buxbaum.” Both Emrys and Llywelyn made confused faces and Siôr laughed. “I think that’s a name. I think it’s his name,” he mentioned as he pointed to the little fuzzy creature on the page. “Like, my name is Siôr. What‘s your name?”“Emrys.”“Emrys is a great name,” Llywelyn commented and little Emrys nodded.“My brother is named Eifion, but he can‘t spell it because he‘s just a baby. I can spell my name because I‘m five. Eifion is zero.”“Oh, Eifion is little! Is he here too?” Siôr asked and Emrys shook his head.“No, he‘s with the other babies.” He paused a second and then shoved the book toward Siôr. “Will you read this to me?”Siôr nodded. “Of course.” He sat on the floor next to Emrys and Llywelyn copied his actions. He flipped to the front on the book and Emrys already looked quite concentrated. “Oh, The Places You‘ll Go,” Siôr began. Emrys sat still and listened to the entire story and before they had left, Llywelyn and Siôr were sure they’d found their son.Image and video hosting by TinyPicThey had to wait almost a year before Eifion was available to be adopted, but ten months after bringing Emrys home, Eifion was able to join him.Emrys loves going to the estate with Siôr and he’ll ride some of the gentler ponies (usually if Siôr rides with him), but he‘s still fairy intimidated by them. Eifion is not so ecstatic about the ponies yet. The one time Siôr tried to hold him and let him ride Dafydd (Siôr's pony from childhood who is older and usually gentler), but Eifion screamed and cried and Dafydd was obviously nervous over the ordeal so they figured they would let him grow up around them a little more before they try to let him ride one again. Llywelyn bought him a stuffed one until he’s older which he seems to like very much.Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Last year the Office of National Statistics produced a separate 'top 100' for England, one for Wales and combined England & Wales one, this was the first time they'd done this (usually they only produced the combined one).If you go http://tinyurl.com/34q4yqu and click to open the files '2008 Boys'/Girls' Baby Names by country, region and month', the third sheet in each file is a Top 100 for Wales for 2008. The 2009 data isn't out yet.
