Maya's second cousin and his wife died in a car accident, two weeks ago. He asked his mother to care for the children but because of her frailness, she passed the children on to Maya. Maya and her second cousin hadn't known each other too well, but because his mother, Rachel, had been practically raised by her aunt (Maya's grandma) and she saw many qualities of Chana in Maya, she passed the kids to her.
