I think the increase in Welsh speakers has stoked up the national pride, definitely, and people having children are looking for interesting Welsh names or choosing Welsh versions of English names more often. A friend who teaches at a primary school says that the class registers are a bit like reading the Mabinogion! I've noticed quite a lot of people changing their children's surnames back to the original Welsh versions, too (ap
Rhys instead of
Price,
Tomos instead of
Thomas, etc.)
