Most simply because I can't get over The Great Gatsby association. Granted, The Great Gatsby is one of my favorite books so the association is stronger for me. She was such a cruel self-centered character especially when considering the way she treated Gatsby. I do see merit in it, but I think like someone else mentioned, it's a bit too southern for me (I'm pretty much the epitome of a northern yankee girl).
