I like it but hate hate hate the nn
Tony.
Following my mother's lead, I used to pronounce the th until an English
Anthony indignantly told me that the h is silent - thus it sounds like
Antony.
The name
Dorothy is similar, in that it used to be pronounced Doroty -although unlike
Anthony the articulated th sound is pretty universal with
Dorothy whereas in Britain most people seem to pronounce
Anthony Antony, and Americans
Anthony.
I know a 30-something
Antony (which might make life easier in the pronunciation department) and a 30-something
Anton (I quite like it though at first thought it sounded prissy)as well.
