Richard is currently me favorite male name; I don't consider it dated. I suspect it will continue to decline in popularity, but remain fairly common in the long run.
I don't know anyone who bears the name.
I think
Thomas will stay reasonably steady as far as the statistics go. It's common, yes, but not nearly as much as it once was. Classic names are not going to become unusual.
My eight-year-old cousin and elderly grandfather are both named
Thomas. I'm also acquainted with a
Thomas who is seventeen.
My cousin goes by
Tommy and the acquaintance by T.D.
Richard,
Thomas, and
Cecily would make a charming set, but
Estella and
Daisy seem out of place.
