When we brought the new baby home, River really felt lost in the shuffle. He decided to run away, because he no longer wanted to be in a large family. With all the chaos, no one noticed he was missing until dinner! We sent the older kids out to look for him, and we called the police and asked them to send over an officer! We were really worried, because he's only 8, and he could really get in trouble. Just as the police car pulled in the drive, Thomas opened the back door with River in tow. Apparently, River had set up house in a neighbor kid's tree house down the street! We sat him down to talk, and he decided to stick around for a while. Caroline is moving out soon, and she promised River she'd invite him over to her apartment for some one-on-one time occasionally so he could get away from the insanity of our full house! When River saw how upset his running away had made me, he gave me a big hug and promised to never leave without letting me know where he was going again.
