I like Mirko as well. I'm into -ko endings. Well, at least for this specific naming situation I'm into -ko endings. Can't say they're going to suddenly shoot up my personal human naming charts. My own pets are Eustace, Hermia, and Chet--pet names have fewer boundaries. :-)
A friend of mine has a male cat named Ariel, though I never remember to ask him if the meaning was intentional.
