[Opinions] Re: new Irish names I have found(and adore)
in reply to a message by Emma Cummings
Séamus - I've always liked this name a lot. Nice.
Sean - Nice name.
Connor - It's okay, I'm not a fan but it's not a bad name.
Brian - SLADE! Sorry. I like it.
Ryan - Not bad, don't really like or dislike it.
Lile - It seems this is pronounced the same as Lily (if it's not, correct me), and I'd prefer to just use the spelling. (Especially because she'd get people calling her Lyle.)
Ireland - This name is not Irish, and I personally don't like it at all.
Caitlin - I'm kinda sick of it to be honest, though this spelling is definetly preferable to the plethora of new ones that are being used. (Two years ago when my aunt named her kid Kaitlyn I was kind of pissed off at her.)
Shayla - I don't think this is Irish either. I don't like it very much. Sounds too much like the other trendy -aylas (Kayla &c).
Orla - All right.
Tory - This is the party in the 1770s that did not want to separate from Great Britain. I would have trouble taking a little Tory any more seriously than "Meet my daughter, Republican."
Kelly - Not bad, I sorta prefer it on a guy but it's fine on both.
Kiley - Is this an Irish name? I thought it was English.
Don't have many suggestions because I don't keep that many in my head (I tend towards French, German and Jewish names), but I really like Aoife, Sinéad, Eilís and Finn.
