Eucher is a French surname. According to Dictionnaire eytmologique des noms de famille et premoms de France by Albert Dauzat, it is from an ancient given name and goes back to Eucharis, who was a king of the Alans, a Germanic tribe, in the 5th century A.D. The original meaning of the first syllable of Eucher is obscure, but the second syllable is probably from hari, "army".
