I also read on an "etymology of names" book that Aleydis has an ancient Greek origin. From "Alea" (Greek goddess previous to the Greek pantheon that we all know, who later joined the goddess Athina becoming Aleas Athina) and "eydos" (meaning something like "outward appearance, external fashion, form and figure, look").
Nice meaning, isn't it. :)
I just wonder whether this name is very common or not.
