[Facts] Nobody expects the Spanish inquisition!
James is an English form of Jacob. Is is no more derived from the spanish Jaime than is our Saviour's name derived from some Puerto ican dude called Jesus :P
(Unless you have some sources back your theory).

That explains a lot. I actually had another intermediate post which was less ascerbic. Somehow that disappeared. Pavlos was rude not merely glib. And he did not read my posts, both the first and the second (which disappeared) in both cases I asked for early citations of the name James. In the second post I merely said he was out of court. I am not appologetic for my last post. His first post may have been a mistake but the second and third were meanspirited. In any case I found a place where English is read a little more carefully. So we can put an end to this. I will not be visiting again.

I may be late, but I've got my thumbscrews handy..."That explains a lot. I actually had another intermediate post which was less ascerbic."**** Hey English Professor -- the word is spelled: "acerbic". Check yer dictionary."Somehow that disappeared. Pavlos was rude not merely glib."**** You're pretty rude, yourself, fellah. What's more, you're not even funny, like Pavlos is."And he did not read my posts…"**** Aw…! *sniff* You're breaking my heart."I am not appologetic…"**** That's "apologetic", Sunshine."In any case I found a place where English is read a little more carefully."**** Then I suggest you work a little harder on your spelling in that case, so you can impress your new friends who read English "a little more carefully". You sure haven't impressed anyone here with your posturing."So we can put an end to this. I will not be visiting again."**** Don't let the back door… Well, *you* know...-- Nanaea

Harvey,
I deleted your messages because they were outside the original thread, and repeated the information of your original messages. Please keep all replies within the thread.
I am nor aware of any studies that back your suggestions. If you do, please let us know, they will be of great value added.
For the sake of civility, I have also deleted your charming post in which you claim I enjoy self-stimulation and label Genis a sycophant."A man without a sense of humor is like a carriage without springs; every little stone on the way rattles his world"

Pavlos for some reason you are taking a proprietary stand here. It just isn't much of your business. I am looking for early use of the name James in English. IF you don't have something to say on that isssue please continue to bother the many other people I'm sure you yoou bother. Thankyou,
