[Facts] Lala, please ... ?

The two th sounds in English are pretty uncommon - Greek and Swahili, I think, also have them. When I hear Indian people talking, the sounds spelled with a th or a dh don't sound like the English ones - more like a voiceless t with the tongue curled back (can't recall the technical term for that!). Am I right, or do I listen to the wrong Indians? (Mostly cricket commentators, I must admit!)

Yes your right. Its a mix of 'th' and dry 't' (if you can understand what I say). Thats where I think this idea of translating into a 'd' came from.
