If I didn't know Jewish families who had chosen names because they were Hebrew (and didn't honor family members), I wouldn't have characterized the Schultheises as doing so. I don't think one naming rule covers the entire culture. And I do think many modern Hebrew names have sprung into being because Jewish families were looking for Hebrew names that don't honor family.
