The Nervetti-Wolf side of the family has grown again. Sarah is a doting older sister to her little brother, who was late to start walking as she fetched and carried so much for him. Now 7 years old, she is obsessed with horses and, since she is unable to own one, has compromised by telling everyone at school that she has three. Sandro has also developed a love of horses, or more specifically cowboys, since watching his first Wild West film with his father and falling in love with life on the prairie. He has decided that he is going to California as soon as he is old enough. Perhaps the youngest child, whose main passion in life appears to be watching birds and trying to imitate their calls, will have more interest in hospitality.

Nico has achieved his goal of becoming a high school English teacher, a job his grandfather would scoff at if he were still alive. He is very popular with his class and passionate about his subject. Last year he unexpectedly reconnected with his teenage crush at her sister’s wedding, where he was acting as best man for the groom, a good friend from college. Like Nico, she is a passionate reader and works in publishing, with the goal of starting her own agency. Now far more confident in his body, he asked her out and their first date was to a second hand bookstore. Only four months later she discovered she was expecting their son and Nico, adopting the lessons of his traditional Italian family, promptly proposed.

Rosalie has found steady work as a travel photographer which has allowed her to fulfil her dream of travelling the world, capturing all kinds of adventures from treks through the Amazon to scuba diving in Australia. It was while in Australia that she met a fellow traveller, a Portuguese woman who was part of her scuba diving group. She had intended to stay in Queensland for longer, but when her new friend announced her intention to carry on and experience the Ghan train, Rosalie decided to follow and the pair shared a compartment across the country.

Claude’s band has changed its keyboardist, drummer and bassist, but he remains a steadfast member. He is studying an engineering degree alongside regular rehearsals and bookings, many of them found through his unofficial agent – his mother Suzanne, who recommends her son’s group for wedding entertainment and manages to secure them an average of two weddings per month to play at. This arrangement has proved unsatisfactory for the band's singer, who would prefer them to concentrate on getting a recording deal for their original music, while Claude is quite pleased with making money from covers. This has led to quite a few creative differences.

Marie is making plans to study in her mother’s home country, inspired by her French textbooks and French TV shows which make Paris look excitingly cosmopolitan. Her parents are trying to save up enough money to make this dream a reality when she finishes school. In the meantime she has left behind her unpaid role at the boutique to work at a cinema concession stand at weekends. She also submits film reviews to the local paper, and paints watercolours in her spare time in hopes of selling them for extra cash.
