Autumn NTNB part 2
1952
Jesse C. Boone has made his great journey to the north-east, leaving the land of dixie jacks and moonshine for the big apple, and switching his worn-out dungarees for a quaint pair of slacks and a flannel. Jesse's thick southern drawl still exposes his roots, though he's not ashamed, and proudly represents Alabama.
Jesse isn't much of an office worker or a stockbroker, but he can break down a pig with the best of them. He started working in a well-known butchershop on the upper east side, while renting out a bed in a local family's basement.
One monday afternoon, while on a smoke break (a tobacco chew break, really), Jesse saw a young woman, dressed in the finest blue tweed dress, walking into the butchery. He quickly spat out his chew, and ran back inside to help serve her, hoping to strike a conversation.
As he found out while wrapping her lamb chops and foie gras, DGF comes from wealth. He managed to book a date with her in a local steakhouse, and found out she's a law student, and her parents are old timey yankies, descended from the legendary Dutch colonists of New Amsterdam.
They've been going steady for about a year now.
DGF's parents are Calvinists, wealthy, well educated and liberal, and harbor quite bit of resentment towards the south, and what it represents. They initially quietly disapproved of Jesse (and were surprised to learn he's even literate), but have grown warmer to him overtime.
DGF's first name is a in the top 50 for 1926. She has two middle names, one of german origin and one of greek or hebrew origin. she has a Dutch surname.
