Autumn NTNB part 1
Our story starts in 1950 in Birmingham. Not the waterside city in England, but the one in the deep south, Alabama.
DH is "trailer trash", and proud of it. He grew up in a mobile home on the northern outskirts of Birmingham with his 5 younger siblings. His father, whom he remembers as "Bubba", was a simple merchant and trapper (the fur kind, not the Gucci Mane kind). His big, poor family was doing as well as they could before his father got drafted for World War 2. After months of silence, they received the message: he was killed in action. Since then, DH took on the role of father and guardian to his siblings, while his mother was out working odd jobs.
Now that his siblings can take care of themselves, and after working as a farm hand for years and saving up, DH is ready to go out of his town and into the world, by moving to New York City. And perhaps his mother, who herself birthed DH as a teen, will finally see her son with a good woman.DH's first name is a classic "hillbilly" name, his middle name is a more unique name you might find on a 19th century grave, and his surname is a simple english, scottish or irish last name.[DH is 19]
