Jason has remained dedicated to his law firm, now expanding its focus to family law - owing in no small amount to the unexpected expansion of his family. While Jason certainly did not anticipate becoming a grandfather at 45, and then, again, at 47, he is enamored with Julian and Lilian and loves spending time with them.
Adeline has started a mentorship program for young artists in Brooklyn. Like her husband, she had some difficulty adjusting to becoming a grandmother at such a young age, but now loves having her grandchildren around. Julian occasionally helps her out with her art projects - even if it is by sprinkling paint on them and making them far more abstract than his poor grandmother ever anticipated.
Raphael is balancing his third year at MIT with his responsibilities as a father. He and Ines, his fiancée, live near campus. Ines is pursuing a degree in early childhood education. When balancing two degrees and a rambunctious toddler becomes too much, they are more than happy to send Julian off to his adoring - if busy - grandparents for the day.
Alexandra is studying at Juilliard, balacing her degree in music with taking care of her baby daughter, Lilian. Her fiancé, Sylvester, is a rising playwright. The couple lives in Manhattan, close to their schools, and frequently visits Brooklyn, where the grandparents are thrilled to dote on Lilian.
Serena, a high school junior, loves playing with her nephew and niece, often telling them stories about marine life. Julian already appreciates them greatly, Lilian - Serena is sure - will grow to. She plans to study marine biology in college.
