Two years ago, Harry Penzance served in the North-West Frontier campaign and saved the life of The Prince of Wales (as suggested by Ohad Yigal). For his valour, he was awarded not only a Distinguished Conduct Medal, but, far more importantly, he was granted a royal warrant, making him an official supplier of perfumes to the royal family.
Another soldier who covered himself with glory in the North-West Frontier - though rumours of his brutality abound - was _______ Hastings, Lord August's younger brother, who was promoted Captain.
Lord August was not expecting his brother to arrive at the dinner he hosted. He had not seen his brother for a decade. It would seem that Lord August and _______ had a bitter argument ten years ago - an argument that no-one but the two of them knows the nature of.
It was Lord August who inherited the estate and the title, and his brother had to make his name in the military, for which _______ always resented him. With a barbed wit that both charms and harms, _______ took quickly to his military career - some might say he enjoys it too much.
On his first night at The Nightingale's Nest, _______ has already caused a stir: it is he who exposed his brother's secret to everyone at the table. But how will Lord August exact his revenge?

Ten years ago, Captain Hastings was out for a night of drinking and revelry. A minor inconvenience led to a duel which led to Captain Hastings nearly killing a man, which his brother obviously disagreed with.

Bedivere and his brother had never been quite close, no, but they were not always so hostile. Each having a head for business, they found they worked quite well together in that world. In fact, it was Bedivere's idea to enter the opium trade. August and he worked out the division, who would get what of the profit, but when the first payout came, Bedivere got nothing. He confronted August about this, but August acted as if their negotiations had never happened. He began to cut Bedivere from everything, eventually evicting him from the estate with a note advising him to purchase a commission in the army. Bedivere held out for as long as he could but eventually was forced to enter the army as a Lieutenant. His spite for his brother is what drove him through service, and what fuelled his severity. Now, he can expose his brother's trade without any risk of his involvement being exposed. August erased Bedivere, and Bedivere will make him pay.

Captain Peredur Barton Hastings
The two Hastings brothers were both in love with Lady Xanthe, but she chose the older. August got the girl, the title, and the estate. Peredur has always found his position as the "spare" to be galling.

Captain Griflet Barnaby Hastings
Sir Griflet is a Knight of the Round Table in Arthurian legend (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Knights_of_the_Round_Table#Griflet) and his name is related to an animal (though mystical) like his older brother’s middle name. I thought about using Arthur, but there is only one Captain Arthur Hastings and that is Hercule Poirot’s companion :) I did however choose another detective for his middle name.
Griflet and his brother Lord August would compete for attention from their father. Lord August, being the oldest, was always the favourite but this didn’t desist Griflet who would often try getting Lord August into trouble. Later on they would compete over women, Lord August pursuing Lady Xanthe fully knowing his brother’s love for her. There are rumours though, that Griflet and Xanthe sometimes meet up in secret.. and is she really pregnant with August’s child or is it his younger brother’s?

Following their father’s death, Tristan was surprised to discover that he had been entirely cut out of the will due to his wild behaviour. He appealed to his brother, who had inherited everything, to bring him in from the cold. However Lord August had always been the more sensible brother and strongly disapproved of his younger sibling’s lifestyle, therefore he refused. The two men had a fierce argument, but Tristan had no legal recourse and so he was forced to enter the military in order to escape poverty. He ultimately thrived and made his name, but never forgot his brother’s rejection and swore to have his revenge as soon as the opportunity arose. The chance to expose Lord August’s secret to his esteemed guests was too good a chance to pass up.
