It's been five years since Emma or the kids had contact with David. Well, besides Jeremy, who showed up on his father's doorstep after an argument with his mother when he was 16. Isabelle argued on his behalf to let him stay, but David would not have it. Jeremy went home and held a new appreciation for his dear mother, whom he knew would never abandon him, despite the hard time that had befallen his family.
Two years ago, Emma was working a double at the diner she was forced to start working at again after David left and ran into an old flame. Their love blossomed and they married a year later. Douglas' wife, Lillian, struggled with mental illness and was taken by a long bout of pneumonia. He brings two children from his prior marriage.
Isabelle also gives birth to two girls.
