Polish Painters - 1/12
Inspired by Belphoebe's CAF :) this round, we'll be naming the husband.
Jan Matejko (1838-1893) was a pioneer of history painting in Poland, known for his oil paintings of key events in Polish history. He spent most of his life in Cracow, where he taught at the Academy of Fine Arts and later became its director. A number of his students became the most famous Polish painters. He was also one of the recipients of letters sent by Friedrich Nietzsche during his psychotic break.
