So the family went to Hawaii to meet Friday's friends after she went there without them. They planned to confront Friday's friend Kellen who was spying on them, but they had a fender-bender accident before they got to Kellen's house. Then Kellen called and said he broke his arm and can't make it to meet them. The family found this suspicious, but Kellen said his arm hurt too much and he was on pain-killers. So they went home.

Then it was time to decorate for Halloween. Friday made glittering cobwebs and hung them magically to the rafters. Riley made ghosts that float out the windows when pedestrians approach. Murphy carved grizzly jack-o-lanterns with candles that were magically brighter. Phoebe summoned a conspiracy of ravens to sit in the trees. Alwyn helped Taylor grow ivy on the house. Anthea and Oriana adopted a stray black cat. Their neighbor Bernadette has been watching these goings-on with amused bewilderment and she's beginning to think the family has magical powers. Especially when the family attends the town Halloween gala and wins the prize for Best Halloween decorations. No one else notices it, but Anthea talks a little too enthusiastically about 'the magic of Halloween" and people start asking for tips and tricks to improve their decorations. The family isn't able to say too much for fear of revealing they have magical powers, but somebody may have let something slip.
(The family adopted the cat forever, not just for Halloween.)
