DAD: Yaretzi Ximena August-Shay [11]Úna and Cecily with Gideon, Norman, and YaretziThe past four years have been rather quiet for the August-Shay family. Gideon's honed his talents, becoming an incredible illustrator. Charming and a bit cocky, he can often be found spinning daring romances for two or three girls at once. But inside, he's a bit frustrated. Though interesting, he finds his magic somewhat weak and useless. He wishes he could do something grander, that helped more, to make him a hero. Norman's a nervous 14 and his mother Cecily's well-learned apprentice. He often takes over the apothecary while she's away, and though he's kind and well-mannered to the customers, he's generally shy and anxious. He has a crush on a local girl, which Gideon often teases him about, but he's too mild to ever initiate anything. Yes, all's been well on the western front- until this year, and Yaretzi's eleventh birthday. As they celebrated, a mysterious, anonymous letter came in claiming to know Yaretzi's true parentage: Epifanio Mestorio and Xochitl Chihuán. The news caused quite a stir: the Chihuáns are a legendary Nahua magic family, rumored to descend from Aztec demigods. This would explain Yaretzi's powerful magic - but it would also make her to last living Chihuán. Xochitl Chihuán was the last practicing Chihuán and died in childbirth. Everyone thought her daughter died wiith her. Úna and Cecily aren't sure what this could mean if true, but they know they need to tell Yaretzi. They waited til the next day. Yaretzi's astonished, but determined to find out more - she's always wondered about her family, and if this is true, she has her own ancestral form of magic to protect. But how to find it?
