Re: CAF With A Twist

Yulia Angeline Vasnetsova (18) is another member of the group project and co-captain of the cheer squad, who’s general attitude towards things is getting them done to a high standard, but without an excess of friendliness. While she’s never rude or unpleasant, Yulia’s someone who prefers sticking with those she knows well and her introversion can be mistaken for snobbery by those who merely know her on reputation basis; especially when combined with her inclination to perfectionism, and how she’s no stranger to aspiring for success. Yulia’s the eldest child born to her parents, and emigrated to Boston when she was 12, still speaking with a noticeable accent - although she started speaking English when she was younger, due to her mother working as a translator in the legal system - and has a good relationship with her brother, attributing it to the fact he’s significantly younger than her. As someone who prefers her space, to practise routines or just relax listening to her mp3, the fact he’s ten and interested in completly different things works well for both siblings - never mind their parents, who worried a bit about the wait to have their youngest child.
When it comes to cheerleading matters, Yulia’s much more forthcoming. She’s organised, dedicated and very supportive of her teammates, being confident in any kinds of contortion or acrobatics as she’s been doing gymnastics since she was four - and is factoring it into her uni applications, alongside her chosen subject of Literature. Reading is something Yulia’s capable of doing for hours on end, surprising given she also enjoys creating mini-spa routines for herself and her mum or going thrifting with friends; seemingly fulfilling a lot of assumptions about cheerleaders in what she enjoys overtly - but she’s very clear its her business and no-one else’s to judge, as she isn’t hurting anyone by making her own face masks. Her closest friends are fellow immigrants - be they first generation like Yulia herself or otherwise - and her co-captain is the first friend she ever made once she’d settled down in America, weathering a lot of questions until they became close.
Something Yulia is comfortable being openly sentimental about is her pet cat, Vasilisa, who’s now pretty much a granny in animal years, and absolutely adores by her. Her parents are discussing getting another cat and Yulia’s friends joke a lot about her struggling to handle school life when doting on both cats, but the prospect of a kitten has the whole squad excited (and Yulia’s jokingly warned her parents about the influx of guests they’ll have - not that they ever mind having people over).
