In contrast to Cesare and Marie-Hélène's rather peaceful last few years, their children's lives have been rather active.
For starters, Marcella formally divorced Antoine, and cut all of her business ties with him, leaving him without the embroidery his dresses were known for. She has been turning her focus to starting her own business free of him, and is working with a few smaller designers she appreciates.
And while Antoine hasn't married his mistress, the pair have had two more children, Edouard and Maxime, making his already cramped house seem even smaller, and with less money coming in he can't upgrade.
Lucrezia and Oscar have finally married, but he still focuses on his work far too much for her liking, so, growing tired of Charles she found another man to give her the attention she so desperately craves. The couple also have three more children, although none of Oscar's friends believe that they are his and have told him as much, regardless he has given them his name and treats them as his own, paying more attention to them than he ever has to Lucrezia.
Nate and Miri had a nasty shock when her husband, who Nate hadn't even known about, showed up on their doorstep. She had thought he died years before, since he spoke of going west to find gold and never ever wrote, not that she missed him much, she had barely known him when he left and what little she did know she disliked. He was quick to anger, and preferred drinking and gambling to anything else, so she found no need to mention him again once he disappeared. But he had returned to New England a few years ago, and her Father had told him where to find her.
Nate was quite upset that she had never told him, especially since it made their marriage unlawful, but when Miri tearfully told him how Solomon had treated her his anger shifted immediately, and he said he would support her however she decided to deal with this situation. So, she had divorce papers drawn up, and gave them to her first husband, telling him that she loved Nate and they had a life and children together, and she had no wish to leave it.
Sadly, Solomon did not react well to this, and when he tried to become violent with Miri he was thrown out of the estate. And instead of coming to his senses, he let it fester and waited until the family was on their way to synagogue, when he took a shot at Nate. His aim was less than stellar though, not helped by the drink he'd been having, and he hit little Benji instead, who died a few hours later from his wound. The only good thing that came from this horrible incident, was that Solomon was arrested almost immediately, and was found guilty of murder, and while he was in prison he was forced to sign the divorce papers so that he couldn't bother Miri and Nate again.
The couple became even closer after the death of their eldest shared son, clinging to each other like a life raft, and had two daughters in the following years, Noa and Shoshana.
Aurelia and Bidziil had probably the calmest of their families updates, having welcomed three more children in the last five years, twins Ashkii & Notah, and baby Ajei, which they are incredibly grateful for, since even reading about everything else that has gone on worries them.
Although Alice and Jean-Baptiste tied the knot, and had four children over the last five years, an article that was recently published in Society's prime gossip magazine outed Alice as having a long-standing affair with her best friend Lady Pauline Winter. There was much speculation about if this was why the couple hadn't married until a few years ago, and what two women could possibly provide each other, and whether Jean knew about his now-wife's 'proclivities', and other such nonsense. Unfortunately, Pauline killed herself in the aftermath and the couple retreated from prying eyes to lean on each other in a way only kindred spirits can.
