In a tragic turn of events, the Ashworth's youngest, Brian, dies in a car accident, after him and a friend of Bronwyn's who was picking him up from daycare were both hit by a reckless driver. Kelly understands that just like the dinosaurs, her brother is not coming back. Denver starts drinking. Brownyn throws herself into her work. Brendan starts acting out at school. Shane withdraws into himself.

Tragically, neither of them do.
