Notes: I used the Renamer for my initial couple after using a country randomizer for name origin inspiration. Out of the ten I rolled, I picked Japan. I chose to use Western name order (given name followed by surname) since that’s how they come up in the Renamer and to lessen confusion for anyone who actually decides to look at my Year Game ;) I didn’t use middle names as that is uncommon in Japan. When a child turned 18, I rolled each year to see if they’d be in a relationship (even=yes, odd=no) and if yes, I rolled for them too as a new separate family starting the next year. I used the country randomizer again for additional SOs if I didn’t feel like them being Japanese as well.

It’s twins for the Takenakas! They are fraternal twins, a boy and a girl, and Ryo and Asuka decide to go with a “sky” theme in honor of their Asuka’s name (which has the spelling meaning flying bird), so they chose Hayato (falcon) and Sora (sky).

Unfortunately, times are tight (Asuka only got a part-time tutoring job because of the twins’ arrival) and the Takenakas file for bankruptcy.
YEAR3 – Location: Japan
The Takenakas submit a video of the twins to Americas Funniest Home Videos and its chosen for the show. It wins first prize and they are no longer bankrupt!
YEAR 4 – Location: Japan
Asuka writes a novel and self-publishes it. It’s doing well particularly with online sales and the extra income is welcome.
YEAR 5 – Location: Japan
Ryo and Asuka let nature take its course to see if they will have another child, but they don’t conceive. They do, however, move to a new three bedroom apartment now that they have a bit more money in anticipation of having at least one more child are enjoying a little more room.

The Takenakas adopt a child, the 9-year-old son of Ryo’s favorite cousin, who passed away with his wife in a car crash. Ryo was listed to be his guardian in the event of their death before he was 18, since his parents, Ryo’s uncle and aunt, had already died at young ages, and his wife had a falling out with her parents before Yuuma was born and wasn’t close to them anymore.

Asuka’s father dies and she spends some time at her mother’s house helping out while she transitions to living alone.

Even though it often makes her sicker, Asuka begins relying on alcohol to dull the pain – and resultant emotions - from her cancer. Ryo is trying to get her to go to an treatment program but so far she (in denial) says that she’s managing it fine. Her family’s very worried.

Ryo brings home a cat, thinking that it might help the kids a bit during this difficult time. They name it Chibi.

When Asuka discovers that she’s pregnant again, and with quadruplets, she is awakened to her need to stop drinking and starts a sobriety program immediately. Thankfully her doctors say that her cancer, which is still being managed with treatment, shouldn’t prevent the pregnancy from being successful. Ryo is a little in shock, yet grateful that his wife is starting to take care of herself, and the kids are very excited. They decided that they would draw on “luck and good fortune” when choosing their names, and it must have worked! All four babies and were born with only some minor problems–and thankfully no alcohol-related issues–as far as they can tell yet. Asuka is also doing well, though she’s quite tired.
- Kenta meets Fuyuko through friends. He thinks she’s as refreshing as her name would indicate (forest winter child) and is completely smitten.

Tragedy strikes! Daichi’s legs are paralyzed when he jumps into the pool at a friend’s party and hits his back on the edge. The Takenakas are grateful that he survived, though he is facing a long road of surgery and is expected to have to use a wheelchair from now on.
- Kenta and Fuyuko get married right after she graduates, and attend a popular movie premier while on their honeymoon. While there they make into the background of a few pictures that are published in magazines, which is very cool. They get some calls from modeling agents because of it, which is even cooler.

- Kenta cheats on Fuyuko with another model, Ellinor, who is from Sweden. The couple divorces, and Kenta and Nora get married.
- Yuuma secretly begins dating a friend from school, Ichirou, as they believe their relationship will not be well-received. Yuuma thinks his parents would actually be okay with it, if perhaps surprised, but Ichi knows his wouldn’t.

The family adopts a pet snake. They name him (they’re going with him, they really have no idea) Jirou because he’s the “second son” pet.
- Kenta and Nora go on a belated honeymoon vacation to another fun city in Japan.
- Yuuma, who was studying toward a career in business, takes encouragement from Ryo’s recent career change and switches also to an artistic field, illustration and computer animation.

- Kenta and Ellinor attend a movie premier. This time it’s for one that Kenta’s been cast in! He’s hoping to make the leap from model to model-actor and appears to be well on his way. Fans go wild for him and his lovely family with little ones on the red carpet.
- Yuuma and Ichirou take another vacation out of the country, this time to New York City where they get married. It won’t be legal when they get back to Japan, but that doesn’t stop them from making the commitment. Neither will Ichi’s family is saying that they’ll disown him, which was a tough decision for him as the eldest son. Ryo and Asuka said that he’s now part of their family, and they’re happy to have him.
