Yay, welcome back!
The Giardiola Family
Venice, 1420
H [52]: Lorenzo Leonardo Giardiola
W [45]: Maria Simona (Vercesi) Giardiola
S1 [27]: Luca Leonardo Giardiola
-ex-Betrothed [24]: Salvaza (Calzolai) Loredan
-------H [35]: Agnolo Galeazzo Loredan
--------D [4]: Agnella Salvaza Loredan
--------S [3]: Prospero Ercole Loredan
-W [19]: Gianetta (Fontana) Giardiola
--D [nb]: Fiammetta Mea Giardiola
S2 [25]: Damiano Michele Giardiola
-W [23]: Clementina Simona (Alamilla) Giardiola, "Tina"
--D1 [5]: Maria Vittoria Giardiola
--D2 [d. 3]: Simona Constanza Giardiola
--S [2]: Matteo Domenico Giardiola
D1 [22]: Pia Filippa (Giardiola) de Champdivers
-H [28]: Jacques Christophe de Champdivers
--S1 [3]: Jacques Laurent de Champdivers, "Laurent"
--S2 [1]: Ludovic André de Champdivers, "Ludo"
S3 [20]: Andrea Taddeo Giardiola
-W [18]: Hedwig Agnes (Griem) Giardiola, "Hedi"
S4 [16]: Antonio Rinaldo Giardiola
-Betrothed [15]: Lavinia Veronica Vasari
S5 [16]: Pietro Ippolito Giardiola
S6 [dec]: Nicodemo Doriano Giardiola, "Nico"
S7 [d. 6]: Giacomo Mattia Giardiola
D2 [1]: Lucrezia Cristina Giardiola, "Lulu"
The intervening 5 years have brought a wealth of change for the Giardiola Dynasty - good and ill. A disease affected many of Venice's youngest inhabitants, sadly taking with it Giacomo Giardiola and little Simona, one of Damiano's twin daughters. Tina and he mourned this loss, and the added stress gave Tina another difficult pregnancy, though their son, Matteo, was born healthy. The midwife cautioned the husband and wife, however, against having any more children due to Tina's health.
Back in Siena, Salvaza Calzolai married a nobleman of vast fortune more than ten years her senior, and she has borne him two children: Agnella and Prospero. The Giardiolas keep a close watch over her - as, they assume, she does them.
Pia married Monsieur de Champdivers and returned with him to Paris, where she now mingles with the French elite. Sadly, having sisters is not the fantasy Pia had built up in her mind, for Lou, Lise, Margot, Riette, and Christelle snub her, with little correction from their brother Jacques. Nevertheless he professes to care for her a great deal, and they now have two sons, Laurent and Ludo. Pia misses her brothers.
Luca was walking along a canal one day when he spotted a woman most comely. She smiled at him - and lost her footing, nearly falling into the water! Luca played the gallant gentleman and saved her, though he noticed that she was not dressed as a noblewoman, or even one of the upper classes. Signorina Gianetta Fontana was merely a baker's daughter, but that mattered not: Luca had actually fallen in love. Despite Gianetta's humble origins - or perhaps because of them - Lorenzo and Maria grew quite fond of her, and she joined the family last year. Their daughter Fiammetta was born months ago, to the joy of all.
Andrea and "Hedi" married recently, and the two seem to be getting on well. Around the same time the Vasari family - another of the Venetian bankers, with connections to the Medicis - proposed a formal alliance, to which Lorenzo agreed. Thus Antonio has been betrothed to the Vasaris' eldest daughter, Lavinia.
And surprise, surprise: Maria has given birth one final time! It had taken her forever to even realize she was with child, the symptoms were so mild - and she thought she had reached the end of her fertility! But Pia finally (after she left for Paris) got her little sister in Lucrezia, who has been nicknamed "Lulu."
