Wow...how time does fly! :) We just celebrated Ellie Grace's first birthday on September 21st with a Care Bear themed party. We invited our family and friends to celebrate with our little girl, and she received every gift imaginable. Her favorite, though, was given to her by her Aunt Rachel and Uncle Nick, and is a Care Bear that sings when you hold its hands. It is so hard to believe that an entire year has passed since our baby girl was born. It seems like just yesterday we were bringing her home from the hospital.
Ellie is a wonderful little girl who is growing so quickly. She tends to be shy around people she doesn't know very well, but around Luke and me, she is a little chatter box. She loves to talk, and her vocabulary is growing very quickly. I love it when she tells Luke or me that she loves us. She is such a caring one-year-old, and she loves to play with her dolls and her Care Bears, as I'm sure you can tell :) Right now, she is so in love with her entire collection; it seems she has every bear on the planet :D
Aside from talking, Ellie is also walking. She still loves to be held and carried, but there are times where she becomes quite independent and wants to walk around on her own. She loves to run around in the backyard, and one of her favorite things to do is to sneak up on and watch our newest addition...no, not a baby brother or sister...at least not yet. It's a bird named Blaze that Luke brought home. He wanted to get a pet, but nothing that would require too much care since we have our hands full with little Ellie.
Work is going well for the both of us. Leaving Ellie for the first time when I had to go back to work was hard, but we've worked our way through it. We still have a few days here and there when she cries and doesn't want me to leave, but she enjoys playing with her friends at daycare, and believe me, when I say that I rush home as soon as possible to be with her. There's no doubt that Ellie Grace has changed our lives forever. She's the perfect daughter in my eyes, and I cannot imagine life without our little angel.
