Edmund Verran comes from a long line of barley farmers.
Morwenna Landhydrock is the daughter of the village doctor and works as a midwife.
Ed and Wen have known each other since they were children although they didn’t get along well until much later on. Most of their childhood encounters ended in Wen throwing rocks at Ed. Both of their parents accept their marriage and find it funny they’ve finally gotten together. Most of the village attended their wedding.
Ed has wavy blonde hair and hazel eyes.
Wen has straight brown hair and striking bluish-green eyes.

Ed and Wen join both of their families in Christmas celebrations this year. Most everyone gets together well.

Ed’s cousin’s collie has had puppies and Wen begged for one. They named her Blou.
During winter, Wen found a runty tomcat looking for shelter around the house and took pity on him. She named him Piggy for his voracious appetite.

Wen is becoming worried that she has not had a child yet, but her mother assures her that things will be fine.

Just a little after she began to seriously worry, Wen realized she was with child. Wen wanted to keep it secret from Ed until his birthday but her morning sickness had been severe enough that she couldn’t keep the secret for long. Despite the sickness everyone is ecstatic.
The labor is long but thankfully not damaging, Matthew is born. He has wavy brown hair and hazel eyes.

Ed and Wen have welcomed a new a child, a little sister for Matthew. Rose has straight dark brown hair and dark blue eyes. This pregnancy and labor was much smoother.
Piggy and Blou are very protective of the children.

Ed’s mother, Rosie, responded to a knock on her door late at night and was met with surprise when she found a swaddled sleeping baby at her doorstep. A note folded in the baby’s blanket explains a unspeakably scandalous situation involving Ed’s departed father’s and an unnamed woman, and the name of the baby: Molly Elowen. Molly has wavy blonde hair and brown eyes.
Rosie is a kindly woman and keeps the child. She confides in Wen of her situation and Wen offers to adopt the little girl as her own. Rosie is relieved and eternally grateful.
